Further Info

Judy's approach to painting is largely intuitive and based on personal visual narratives that are linked to memory or place. These paintings have a dreamlike quality that is arrived at through the imaginative application of colour. Her interest lies in particular and intimate views of her surroundings, rather than the broader picture, and her approach to landscape is a contemporary one that incorporates both figurative and abstract elements.

The paintings vary in scale and are mainly acrylic on canvas.

As a printmaker Judy likes to experiment with technique and runs workshops from her home in non toxic printmaking methods such as drypoint, collagraph, woodcut and silkscreen monoprinting. These are suitable for all abilities and are reasonably priced.

Judy finds the versatility of printmaking exciting and enjoys passing her enthusiasm onto others. Her prints are exhibited regularly in London at the Bankside Gallery, home of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers, where she is a member, also in Bristol at Spike Island Printmakers and in Somerset as part of Somerset Printmakers.

Photographic elements are sometimes included in her printmaking and painting where she incorporates this imagery with paint and collage. A recently commissioned work of this type can be seen at the Tacchi Morris Arts Centre, Taunton where 3 large panels commemorating the life of Kathleen Tacchi Morris are on display in the bar area.

Judy often works to commission for hotels, schools and hospitals and in 2003 was Somerset Art Week artist in residence at Dillington House, Ilminster. She is presently working on a project in Portugal.

If you would like to view Judy's work you can view it on her website or by making an appointment to visit her studio.
